Throughout the TPTE course, we have been compiling projects into our own website. Google sites was a website in which I had never heard of, but now I am glad that I learned about this webpage. The possibilities are nearly endless with all of the customization available to create a unique site. I enjoy the way that we worked on the website over the course of the semester as opposed to finishing it all in one sitting.
I liked having the option to choose many aspects of what I wanted on my website. I was able to choose which of the web 2.0 tools I wanted to create and add to my page. I also liked having the freedom to decide what I wanted to do with my extra pages. There were many choices that we could have used and I decided to make a recommended reading list. This project was very realistic and I would absolutely create a classroom website in my future classroom.
As we finished projects, we embedded them onto our website. This process was not as difficult as I imagined because many of the tools we used were already paired up with google which made the embedding process that much simpler. As aforementioned, it made the website creation so much less stressful by not having to have it complete all at one time. I enjoyed compiling the different artifacts over the course of the semester.
I will absolutely use a website in my future classroom. This is a great way for students to get to know their teacher, as well as for parents. I consider it to be a foyer to the classroom where everyone can meet up and see what to expect before even entering the classroom. On top of all of this, it was incredibly fun to create and customize.
